Governor Mary Fallin gave a speech at the Republican Convention in Florida before the Presidential election and bragged about how the Conservative policies of her administration had caused Oklahoma to have one of the lowest Unemployment rates in America.
What she left out was that Oklahoma is in the top ten, and in most cases numer one, in poverty, hunger, and violence. We are one of the top states for human trafficking, gangs, and drug abuse.
Because our state supports Right to Work, employees can be fired for little or not reason and most are earning at or near the poverty level.
A woman in Moore, Oklahoma, which is a suburb of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan area, was fired the day after having brain surgery to remove a tumor. Her employer, a buffet restaurant in Moore which is now displaying a sign on their building that they are hiring, gave her 24 hours to get back to work or lose her job.
Now the worker is recovering from the brain surgery without the benefit of health insurance for followup care and without the ability to look for work elsewhere at this time.
This is only one example of the atrocities that the normal Oklahoman faces at the hands of the Tea Party backed government in place. There is no recall option in our state, but we pledge to work together to rid the state of corruption at the hands of Mary Fallin and her cronies, Langford, Inhofe and Coburn among others.
